Prayer for Anxiety at Night
Night can be one of the hardest times when you are dealing with anxiety. The distractions of the day fade, and your thoughts seem louder. Worries about tomorrow, replaying conversations, or fear about things you cannot control can make it difficult to rest.
If you are lying awake with a restless mind, this is a moment to gently turn your thoughts toward God. You can bring every worry to Him and ask Him to meet you with His peace.
A Prayer for Anxiety at Night
If your thoughts feel overwhelming, you can pray like this:
God,
my mind feels full and restless tonight. I keep thinking about things I cannot fix and worrying about what might happen. You see every thought and every fear, even the ones I cannot put into words.
Help me to release these worries into Your hands. Remind me that You are in control, even when I feel uncertain. Quiet the noise in my mind and replace it with Your peace.
I trust that You are watching over me as I rest. Guide my thoughts back to Your peace and help me feel safe in Your presence. Let me sleep knowing that You are with me and that I can place tonight, tomorrow, and everything beyond my control in Your hands.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Turning Your Thoughts Toward God at Night
Bring your worries to God as they come
Instead of trying to push anxious thoughts away, you can turn each one into a simple prayer. When a worry comes to mind, quietly give it to God. This keeps your focus from spiraling and helps you stay grounded in His presence.
Keep your prayers simple
You do not need long or perfect words. Short, honest prayers like “God, I give this to You” or “Help me trust You” are enough. What matters is that you are turning toward Him, not the length of what you say.
Rest in God’s care
Anxiety often comes from feeling like everything depends on you. But God is not asking you to solve everything tonight. You can rest knowing He is still working, even while you sleep.
If anxiety is something you are facing often, you may find it helpful to explore other prayers for specific needs or learn how to build a steady rhythm in your daily prayer habits.
Tonight, you do not have to solve everything before you sleep. You can rest knowing God is near, listening, and holding everything that feels heavy.
