Uplift Prayer is a free app designed to help people stay connected through prayer. It brings together individuals, small groups, and ministries in a shared space where prayer requests are seen, supported, and followed over time.
Why Uplift Prayer Exists
Prayer is one of the most widely practiced habits in the world, yet it is often difficult to stay consistent. Requests are shared in passing, written down and forgotten, or scattered across conversations that are hard to revisit.
Uplift Prayer was created to give prayer a dedicated place where people can stay engaged, support one another, and return to prayer throughout the day.
The goal is simple: create frequent, accessible opportunities for people to focus on God, care for others, and stay connected through prayer in a meaningful, ongoing way.
A Different Kind of Prayer Community
In most settings, prayer happens in small circles: a group, a ministry team, or a list that is shared and gradually fades. That work is valuable, but it is limited by structure and reach.
Uplift Prayer expands that circle. Anyone can share a request, pray for others, and stay connected as needs change. Prayer becomes something that more people can participate in, more often.

The Team
Gregg Hovis, PhD
Co-founder
Gregg is a business leader, entrepreneur, and technical expert with over 30 years of experience in digital technology and new product development. His career spans fighter-aircraft engine development at Pratt & Whitney, robotic vision systems at Westinghouse, enterprise software deployment at Snippets Software, and co-founding Direct Measurements, Inc., a structural health monitoring company whose technology was acquired by GE. At GE Power, he led a team credited with $61 million in productivity over three years. Gregg leads product development and technology for Uplift Prayer, and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
John Hovis
Co-founder
John is a businessman, author, and entrepreneur with a background in mechanical engineering, product development, systems integration, and project management. After building a successful career in technology, he left the corporate world to build a family business that remains the foundation of his family's livelihood today. Over the past 30 years he has helped launch and evaluate numerous ventures in both the profit and non-profit sectors. John is drawn to collaboration with unconventional thinkers and brings that same energy to Uplift Prayer, where he leads business development and ministry partnerships.
Bob Ford
Partner & Corporate Officer
Bob brings decades of experience building discipline and high performance in demanding environments. He served 26 years as a Cryptologic Officer in the Navy, retiring as a Captain, followed by six years at the NSA as Chief of Staff and Director of Operations at NSA Georgia, and then as Principal Lead of the Booz Allen Hamilton Augusta office supporting Department of Defense clients. In 2018 he founded Optimum Health & Financial Coaching, LLC, working as a Dave Ramsey-certified Master Financial Coach with a focus on spiritual, physical, and financial health. Bob joined Gregg and John at Sivoh that same year, having served alongside them in the same church and small group since the early 2000s. He brings that same results-oriented approach to habit-building, leadership, and community to his work with Uplift Prayer.
The Uplift team are committed husbands, fathers, and church servants with hands-on experience as church elders, prayer ministry leaders, and volunteer coordinators. Uplift Prayer was built from the inside of that world, not from the outside looking in.
