Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

In our reading today, we are called to embrace attributes that help us mirror the love and compassion of our Savior. We might often think about putting on physical clothes each morning, but how often do we consider the spiritual garments God is asking us to wear?

These virtues - kindness, humility, gentleness and patience - are not just meant to decorate us externally, but to be woven into our very being. They are not just Sunday best, to be worn for a few hours and then put away. Instead, they are to be donned daily, shaping how we interact with others and reflect God's love.

Kindness is not simply about doing nice things; it is about carrying a spirit of goodwill towards all people. Humility requires that we place others' needs before our own, gentleness asks us to respond with softness even in harsh circumstances, and patience calls us to endure challenging situations with grace and perseverance.

Indeed, these virtues are not easy to cultivate. They require intentionality, practice, and above all, a willingness to let go of our selfish desires. But it is through these sacrifices that we truly become God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved.

Today's Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help us to clothe ourselves daily with kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Let our actions reflect Your love and embody Your virtues in all we do. May others see You in us, as we strive to live according to Your holy calling. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
