Fasting as a Prayer Practice
Nov 18, 2025
Fasting isn’t about earning God’s attention — it’s about giving Him yours. It’s a way of setting aside physical satisfaction to focus more deeply on spiritual connection.
Start simple. You might fast one meal and spend that time in prayer instead. Or you could fast from something else that distracts you — social media, streaming, or snacking.
The key is to use the time and space created by fasting to draw near to God. When hunger (or habit) surfaces, turn it into a prompt: “Lord, I want You more than this.”
Fasting can sharpen your spiritual focus, expose what truly satisfies, and stir fresh dependence on God.
It’s not about performance — it’s about posture. And even a small fast, done with the right heart, can have a big impact on your prayer life.
