However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Acts 20:24 (NIV)

Our reading today offers a glimpse into the mindset of Paul, one of the most important figures in the New Testament. Despite knowing the hardship and danger waiting for him at his journey's end, Paul remained steadfast, placing more importance on fulfilling God's purpose than preserving his own life.

It’s easy to be swayed by fear or safety concerns when we’re faced with the possibility of danger or discomfort. We are just human after all. But Paul's example calls us to look beyond our fear, setting our sights instead on the larger mission that God has set before us.

If the apostle Paul can keep his eyes firmly set on sharing the 'good news' despite trials and tribulations, how much more should we? As Christians, we are also bearers of this 'good news', called to share the love, hope, peace, and joy found in Jesus Christ, even when it challenges us.

Next time fear knocks at your door, remember Paul. Let your faith be stronger than your fear. Remember that your mission is more important than your comfort. The race and the journey might be hard but the finish line is worth it all.

Today's Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, Help us to be brave like Paul, ever mindful of our mission here on earth. Strengthen our hearts, that we may not shrink back from the task You have given us, no matter how challenging it may be. May we find joy in our journey, knowing that the finish line is eternity with You. In your precious name we pray, Amen.
