Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

Romans 15:2 (NIV)

In today’s verse, we are reminded of our Christian duty to not solely look after our own interests, but also to uplift and build up our brethren. At times, it may appear as an easy undertaking, but the real challenge presents itself when we are weary or burdened ourselves. However, it is crucial to remember that our actions have far-reaching effects and by choosing to act selflessly, we could potentially lighten someone's load or brighten their outlook.

We are each equipped with unique talents which can be used as tools for encouragement. Some people may be blessed with comforting words, others might have a listening ear, and yet others might know just how to bring a smile to a downcast face. Whatever your gift may be, use it to uplift those around you.

Remember, Christ has walked this path before us. He sought not His own pleasure, but lived for the joy of serving others. In His life, we find the perfect example of selfless service and encouragement. As we seek to follow Him and live for others, may we begin to feel the joy and peace that truly comes from putting others above ourselves.

Today's Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, grant us the spirit of selflessness and help us to put the needs of others before ours. Fill our hearts with love and compassion so that we can use our God-given talents to uplift those around us. Lord, we pray that just like Jesus, we continually seek opportunities to serve and not be served. Thank you for this reminder and for the privilege to reflect Christ in our daily actions. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
