Comfort in Sorrow
Mar 8, 2025
[Praise to the God of All Comfort] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
In today's verse, we find a profound truth about our God - He is the ultimate source of comfort in all our afflictions. When we face adversities, it's easy to feel abandoned and alone. However, the scripture reading for today reminds us that God is ever present in our troubles.
The beauty of God's comfort isn't just restricted to our personal healing though. We are comforted by Him not merely for our own solace, but so we could be a source of comfort to others who are in any affliction. No trial or tribulation is wasted.
Our wounds and experiences uniquely equip us to empathize with those going through similar crises, thereby extending the same comfort we have received from God. As recipients of His eternal comfort, we are called upon to be channels of that divine comfort to all those around us.
So today, let's remember and appreciate the comfort we receive from our Father during our times of distress. Moreover, let us also be eager to share this comfort with those around us, pointing them to the ultimate Comforter.
