This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

In today's verse, we find an incredible promise. We are assured that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. This is a profound truth that can greatly influence our prayer lives. Often, we may feel like our prayers are mere words tossed into the wind, unheard and unanswered. But the Scripture assures us that when we align our desires with God's will, He hears and answers our prayers.

It's important to understand what it means to pray according to God's will. It doesn't mean presenting Him with a list of our personal preferences or desires. It means seeking to understand His heart, His ways, and His purposes and basing our prayers on that understanding. His will becomes the guiding principle for our prayers.

Today's verse also promises that if God hears us, we have what we asked from Him. It's not a maybe or a possibly. It's a definite, a certainty. The key lies in aligning our will with His, for God won’t deny Himself. Our task, therefore, is to diligently seek His will in all things and to mold our desires to conform to His.

Today's Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the assurance that You hear and answer our prayers when we ask according to Your will. Help us to seek Your will and to align our desires with Yours, so our prayers may always be pleasing to You. Remind us of Your faithfulness and steadfast love every time we come to You in prayer. We ask this in Your precious name, Amen.
