Unforeseen Grace
Dec 14, 2024
Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Luke 1:26-28 (NIV)
In our reading today, we are led into the heart of a young woman named Mary. The angel Gabriel appears to her with overwhelming news—she is to be the mother of Jesus, Son of the Highest. How easy it would have been for Mary to be overtaken by fear and uncertainty, yet she responded in humble acceptance.
We could learn much from this interaction. Like Mary, God has chosen us for specific purposes, unforeseen tasks that may at first seem daunting or even impossible. Yet He does not leave us alone in these tasks. With every purpose God presents us, He promises His presence and His endless grace.
Often, it's difficult to understand why God places certain challenges and opportunities before us. But like Mary, let us remember God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. The grace of God bestowed upon us is sufficient to carry out His divine plan.
