In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)

In every aspect of our lives, Christ’s example should be the standard we strive to attain. Our reading today reveals the mindset of Christ - a model of humility and servanthood that we are called to emulate.

This level of humility was manifested in Christ's willingness to let go of His divine rights and prerogatives, stepping down from His throne in heaven to walk among us as a human. Jesus' attitude compels us to reconsider our own attitudes towards entitlement, privilege, and rank. His profound selflessness reminds us that we are equally called to put others first, to serve rather than be served, and to seek God’s kingdom rather than earthly glory.

Moreover, it is not just about behaving humbly, but cultivating true humility within our hearts. This requires surrendering our self-centered tendencies and inviting the Holy Spirit to transform our minds. Today, let us intentionally invite Christ’s nature into our daily living, adopting His disposition of service, sacrifice, and love.

Today's Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, teach us to walk in humility like Your Son, Jesus. Grant us a spirit of servanthood, that we may put others before ourselves and serve Your kingdom faithfully. Transform our hearts and renew our minds, so we may reflect the love and humility of Christ in our daily lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
