For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Romans 1:20 (NIV)
There's much in this world that we do not see, yet we know it's there. Our reading today speaks to the invisible qualities of God—His eternal power and divine nature—that are clearly seen, understood and perceived from the creation of the world itself. As we look at the grandeur of the mountains, the intricacies of a flower, or the vastness of the cosmos above, we witness the fingerprints of our Creator. His artistry is on display, speaking of Him daily without words or language.
But just as real as the physical world is, so is the spiritual realm. Though we might not always see with our physical eyes this side of heaven, we have been granted spiritual sight to perceive God's eternal truths. He has given us His Word, and by His Spirit we can know Him intimately, seeing Him not only in the beauty of the morning sunrise or the murmur of the stream but also in the pages of Scripture and the still, quiet moments of prayer.
We are reminded today that being able to perceive and understand these unseen divine aspects of God is an amazing grace given to us. May we never take it for granted but rather, let's continue to explore the unseen while cherishing the seen, ever seeking to know our God more deeply.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for revealing Yourself to us in the beauty of Your creation and the truth of Your Word. Open our eyes to see You more clearly, and our hearts to understand You more fully. Help us to seek You in the seen and the unseen, and to remember that You are always near, always working, always loving. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
