Imprinting God's Word on Our Hearts
Mar 5, 2025
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6: 6-7 (NIV)
They should not just be a set of rules we follow, but a guide for our lives, influencing our decisions and actions. We notice that God emphasizes the importance of teaching His commands to our children. This implies investing time, effort, and care in explaining the Word of God and its significance to them. It is essential we do this consistently and creatively, not just on Sundays, but in every opportunity our day-to-day lives provide, whether at home or on the go.But before we teach it, we must first model it.
When God's Word is in our hearts, it naturally overflows into our lives. Our words, attitudes, and actions become a living testimony of God's truth to our children and those around us. Therefore, as we seek to obey today's verse, let us prioritize understanding and embracing God's commandments ourselves, so they are indeed etched deeply on our hearts and evident in our lives.
May we then pass them on as a priceless heritage to our children and the generations to come.
