I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
Today's verse is a profound declaration of faith that speaks to the transformative power of Christ in our lives. The apostle Paul's words capture a profound shift - from striving towards self-righteousness to living by faith in Jesus. When we decide to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, our old self, with its sins and selfish desires, is crucified with Christ.
It does not mean that we physically die, but that a radical spiritual transformation occurs. Our old life, governed by our sinful nature and our attempts to satisfy it, has been replaced by a new life, one guided and empowered by the spirit of Jesus living within us. This shift is not a one-time event but a daily reality.
Living by faith involves surrendering complete control to Christ, allowing Him to guide our thoughts, actions, and decisions. We acknowledge that His ways are better than our own, that His truth is more trustworthy than our understanding, and that His love for us is far greater than we can ever comprehend.
This way of faith demands a selfless approach to life. Yet, in this 'dying to self', we truly begin to live. Guided by Christ’s love and powered by His spirit, we're able to live a life of purpose, blessing, and joy that far surpasses anything that our former selves could achieve.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, help me to die to my selfish desires daily, to surrender my will to You, and to live by faith in You. May Your love guide my actions and decisions today. In Your powerful name, I pray. Amen.
