fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
In today's verse, we are reminded of the grand and beautiful vision of the faith journey. Our faith has an author, the one who started it off in us. And not just the author, but also the finisher, the one who perfects and completes it. It is encouraging to know that our faith life is not our own doing, it is worked upon and perfected by Jesus Himself.
Yet, there's something eternally inspiring about how Jesus endured the cross. Just ponder this for a moment—our Savior endured the greatest pain imaginable for the joy set before Him. This joy was beyond His personal reward, it encompassed our salvation, the redemption of mankind. The transformative power of His unwavering focus on God’s will, even amidst unimaginable suffering, sets a profound example for our own life trials.
We too can endure, overcome, and grow through our trials when we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith. By doing so, we acknowledge that He is in control, He leads the way, and promises to complete the work He has begun in us.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus. Guide us to comprehend the depth of His sacrifice, to appreciate the joy set before Him, and to learn from His focus on Your will. Thank you, Lord, for being both the author and perfecter of our faith. In the midst of our trials, let us find solace in the truth that You will complete the good work You have started in us. We pray all these in the treasured name of Jesus, Amen.
