[The Armor of God] Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)
When we think about strength, images of physical power and ability often come to mind. However, in our reading today, we are reminded that true strength comes from the Lord. Paul instructs us to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. The battles we face daily are more than physical; they are spiritual. Our real enemy is not of this world but of unseen forces.
Putting on God's armor, as expressed in today's verse, isn't about physical defense but about spiritual groundedness and preparedness. This armor is God's word, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Spirit - tools given to us by God to stand firm against all forms of evil.
In the uncertainties of this life, remember that our strength indeed lies in the Lord. As followers of Jesus, let us continually clothe ourselves in His protective armor, allowing His power to work through us, standing steadfast in faith and knowing that He that is in us is greater than he who is in the world.
Today's Prayer:
Gracious Father, grant us the strength to face every challenge that comes our way. Help us put on Your full armor daily so that we can stand firm against the forces of darkness. Remind us, Lord, that our strength comes from You and You alone. GUIDE US to rely on your infinite power rather than our human abilities. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
