Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

1 Peter 2:2-3 (NIV)

As we journey through life, our spiritual growth should always be our priority. Just as newborn babies desire milk for nourishment and growth, so should we long for the pure spiritual milk that is God's word.

Today's verse reminds us of this overwhelming need to feed on God's truth so that we can grow into strong and mature believers, capable of standing firm in faith and reflecting Christ in our daily activities.

Many times, we fill our souls with worldly matters, neglecting the very thing that gives us real strength. Yet, it’s important to remember that only God's word can truly satisfy our deepest hungers and guide us onto the path of righteousness. His word is pure, unchanging and filled with life-giving promises. The taste of the Lord's goodness (as metaphorically suggested in our reading today) means experiencing His mercy, grace, and love firsthand.

Let's strive to remain hungry for God's word, and in turn, we’ll find ourselves growing and thriving in His spectacular love.

Today's Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to cultivate a deep desire for Your word. May it nourish and strengthen us, guiding us to spiritual maturity. Enable us to taste and see Your goodness in our lives, and may Your love overflow from us to others. Thank you for filling us with Your truth and life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
