then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
Acts 4:10,12 (NIV)
Today's verse reminds us of the exclusive claim of Christianity: there is only one name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. This is a bold assertion, one that often clashes with the world's plea for inclusivity and broad-mindedness. Yet, it is the very essence of our faith.
Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. It means the doorway to eternity isn't opened through our good deeds, moral rectitude, or religious rituals; but only by the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ on the cross. This affirms the uniqueness and supremacy of Jesus Christ, pointing to Him as the only way to reconciliation with God.
We live in a pluralistic society, one that offers many 'paths' to truth, meaning, and happiness. Yet, our reading today challenges us not to dilute our message even when it seems too narrow according to human understanding. Our task is not to make this truth more palatable but to faithfully proclaim Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world.
Today's Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for provisioning our salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Give us the courage to stand firm in this truth, even when the world pushes against it. Help us to proclaim Jesus as the only way to You—with love, humility, and patience. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
