Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:25-26 (NIV)

In our reading today, we are reminded of the surpassing worth and strength available to us in God. We dwell in a world that can often seem chaotic and fraught with conflict, causing us to seek solace in various places. However, how often do we remember that it is in God alone we find our true refuge and strength?

The Psalmist's declaration should echo in our hearts daily. The things of the earth may promise satisfaction, yet they are transient and pale in comparison to our God. He stands as a constant, never wavering nor failing. He is the well from which we draw our strength, our peace, and our joy. Surely, there is nothing on earth that can compare to Him.

Our strength may quake, and our hearts may fail, but the scripture reading offers comfort. Our God is not just a passive observer. He is the strength of our hearts; our portion forever. When all else fades away, when our human strength fails, we can lean on Him because He remains steady and sure.
