Love in Deed and Truth
Feb 27, 2026
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18 (NIV)
Today's verse challenges us towards a potent expression of our faith — love in action. Often, we find it easy to declare our love for God and others with charming words and impressive rhetoric. But the apostle John invites us beyond these verbal testimonies to a lived-out demonstration of love.
We are called to love not merely in words or speech but in truth and action. Such love transcends the sphere of lip service to become practical, tangible. It's the love that gives without expecting in return, the love that steps out of comfort zones, the love that prioritizes the needs of others above personal convenience.
Our reading today reminds us that authentic Christianity is marked by this gospel-induced action. It is the type of love that testifies more about our faith than any eloquent sermon or hymn. It is the quiet service, the helping hand, the empathic listener, the shoulder to lean on — all given selflessly in love.
Today’s Prayer:
Father God, help me to practice the love You've shown me - a love that acts and loves in truth. Lord, may my love for others not be merely in words but be demonstrated through my actions. Each day, make me a vessel of Your love, touching lives with the hope and grace that I have received from You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
