“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 13:34-35 (NIV)

In our reading today, we're reminded of a new command given to us, one that transcends all laws and regulations. This mandate of love is not merely an affectionate feeling but an active display of care, kindness, and regard towards others, just as Christ loves us.

The profundity of the Lord's love for us is beyond human comprehension. It is a sacrificial love, one that led Him to lay down His life for ours. He calls us to reciprocate this love in our dealings with others. The idea isn't to love as the world does, temporarily and conditionally, but to love with a divine, everlasting love.

Our actions should echo this divine love. It is through our acts of love that our identity as followers of Christ becomes clear. The world around us should be able to recognize the presence of Christ in our lives, not by our words, but by the love we show.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to understand the depth of Your love. As we go through our daily lives, may we love others as you have loved us. May our actions reflect your love and draw others to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
