The Boundless Gift of Love
Feb 11, 2026
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (NIV)
Our reading today gives us a glimpse into the true nature of love — not the fleeting kind that is often portrayed in our modern society, but a love that is patient, kind, and devoid of resentment. This isn't always easy to express in our human interactions and relationships. We fail, we err, we carry the burdens of the past — all of which can hinder our ability to exemplify this love.
But God's definition of love is not shaped by our shortcomings or failures. Rather, it stands as an ideal, a beacon to guide us on our spiritual journey. It asked nothing in return but seeks to give unconditionally, disregarding wrongs suffered. This is the divine love that God bestows upon us and desires for us to extend to others.
As followers of Christ, we are called to strive towards embodying this love in our daily lives. This doesn’t mean that we will always succeed - we all fall short. But rather, even in our weakest moments, we can rely on God’s grace and mercy to guide us back onto the path of love.
Today’s Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to love like You do. Teach us patience, kindness, and forgiveness, and remove any resentment from our hearts. May Your love be the compass that guides our actions and decisions, reflecting Your grace and mercy in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
