Gratitude for Spiritual Growth
Feb 9, 2026
[Thanksgiving and Prayer] We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)
Our reading today is an ode to spiritual growth, a fundamental element of Christianity. Seeing spiritual growth within ourselves or others is indeed a cause for celebration and gratitude. It reflects not just personal thriving, but the life-giving work of God in our hearts. This growth is not confined to knowledge or understanding alone, but it's also about the cultivation of faith and love.
At times, we may feel stagnant in our spiritual journey, perhaps even regressing. It's in these moments that we need to remember that spiritual progress isn’t always linear or readily apparent. It's also essential to recognize that this growth doesn’t occur in isolation - it’s a communal affair, evident in the shared faith and love we exhibit towards each other.
Our reading today encourages us to express gratitude for the spiritual growth we see in ourselves and those around us. As we thank God for this growth today, let us also ask Him to continue to nurture and increase it, enabling us to love more deeply and believe more fully.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of spiritual growth. Thank you for growing us in faith and love, nurturing us every step of the way. We pray that you would continue to guide us, increasing our faith and expanding our capacity to love as you do. In your precious name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
