[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 18:1-2 (NIV)

Today's verse reminds us of the profound love we share with our Lord, and the strength we can find in Him. Just like David, we are called to love the Lord with all our fervor and seek refuge in Him. He is our rock, worthy of our trust. Our lives often teem with trials and tribulations that threaten to take our peace, but amidst all these, we have an unwavering fortress.

Recall times in your life that have been particularly tumultuous. Perhaps you were facing health challenges, financial distress, or relationship difficulties. During such times, where did you turn for comfort? Today's devotion emphasizes our need to remember that God is our rock and fortress, our deliverer in times of distress.

Our scripture reading portrays a beautiful image of God as solid and unchanging amid life's storm. As our rock, He provides stability; as our fortress, He grants protection. Love God passionately and lean on Him bravely, for He will be our unwavering stronghold when storms come.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for being our rock and fortress. In times of trouble, help us to remember to lean upon You for strength and protection. Increase our love for You day by day, and let us find peace in Your presence. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
