For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 6:12-13 (NIV)

In today's verse, we're reminded of the unseen battle that rages beyond our physical world. We're not contending with mere flesh and blood – bosses, co-workers, spouses, or friends – but against spiritual forces of evil. These forces operate in the heavenly realms and influence the visible, earthly realm where we live. In this spiritual warfare, we can often feel overwhelmed.

However, our reading today provides comfort and direction. It encourages us to stand strong, to put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, we may be able to withstand. Not only are we to stand, but we're also told to prepare ourselves for these spiritual battles by donning the protection and weapons God has given us.

By equipping ourselves, we demonstrate our trust in God's provision. We lean on His strength rather than our own and acknowledge our need for His divine intervention in combatting these unseen evils. This daily act of suiting up serves as a constant reminder that no matter what battles we face, God is with us.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to recognize and remember the spiritual battles we fight daily. Strengthen us to stand firm, fully equipped with Your armor. May we trust in Your power and provision in the face of adversity and not rely on our own strength. Empower us to resist and persist in faith, reflecting Your light even during the darkest battles. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
