Walking in the Spirit
Jan 16, 2026
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16 (NIV)
Today's verse urges us to walk by the Spirit. In a world filled with loud voices and distractions, this prompt may seem elusive. But what does it truly mean to 'walk by the Spirit'? It requires a continual intimate fellowship with God, intentional pursuit of His ways over ours, and the discipline to discern between the divine and the worldly.
Our natural tendencies pull us towards things that satisfy our fleshly desires. We need strength beyond ourselves to resist these temptations. By surrendering completely to the divine Spirit and leaning into God's grace, we can make choices aligned with His heart and will. This practice is not attained overnight, but through a life-long journey of spiritual growth and maturity.
Remember, to walk by the Spirit is not to live a flawless life but to live a life where we continually acknowledge our need for God, confess our missteps, and strive for spiritual progress. The beauty of this journey lies in its imperfections, for it is in our weaknesses that His strength shines brightly.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, guide us as we strive to walk according to your Spirit. In the face of temptation, let your voice be the loudest in our hearts. Help us yield to the Holy Spirit's control daily, seeking your will above our desires. This journey requires strength and persistence beyond what we possess; we ask for your enabling grace. We cling to you, Jesus, our guide and light. In your precious name, we pray. Amen.
