Living a Life of Holiness
Jan 10, 2026
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16 (NIV)
Our reading today calls us to pursue holiness, which can seem like a daunting task. It's challenging to live "holy" lives in an increasingly chaotic world. However, it's important to remember that being holy doesn't equate to being flawless or impeccable. Instead, it means living out our faith in Christ, striving to mirror His love, forgiveness, and compassion in our everyday lives.
Today's verse makes it clear that God's definition of holiness is not based on our strength or ability to resist sin but is grounded in emulating His nature. We are not expected to achieve perfection overnight, but we are called to strive towards it each day, despite our weaknesses and shortcomings.
It's in our journey towards holiness where we find grace and growth. We see the reflection of God's love in our actions and through our relationships with others. We are strengthened by our resolve to live a life that honors God and follows His commandments. This journey of holiness serves as a testament to our faith, inviting others to experience the transforming power of God's love.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your guidance as I strive to live a life reflective of Your holiness. Help me to be a beacon of Your love and compassion to those around me, allowing my life to draw others closer to You. Strengthen me in times of weakness, instill in me patience when I falter, and remind me of Your unending grace that sustains me on this journey towards holiness. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
