Walking with God
Jan 4, 2026
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8 (NIV)
In today's verse, we find a beautiful summary of God's requirements for us. As believers, we are called to live justly, demonstrating godly wisdom in our conduct, showing fairness and compassion in our interactions with others.
Love is the second requirement. It’s not simply an emotion but a decision to treat others as we want to be treated. We are to love kindness, which means it shouldn't be difficult for us to show empathy and affection towards others. We should go beyond merely respecting others to actively seeking to meet their needs.
The third requirement is to walk humbly with God, acknowledging our reliance on His grace and guidance. It calls for a quiet surrender to His will and a recognition of our limitations. Humility isn't about thinking less of ourselves but thinking of ourselves less. It implies total trust in God and a willingness to follow his lead.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, Help us to live out the call of today's verse - to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Make us ever mindful of our responsibilities as Your representatives on earth. Let Your Spirit guide us that we may reflect Your heart in all we say and do. As we journey through each day, may we remain close to You, walking in step with Your desires for our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
