Embrace of Salvation speaker

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

Luke 2:28-32 (NIV)

The poignant moment shared in today's reading, between Simeon and the baby Jesus, is a picture of hope fulfilled. Simeon, who was promised he wouldn't depart from the earth until he had seen the Savior, held the Son of God, the fulfillment of God’s promise, in his arms.

This powerful encounter serves as a reminder that, just like Simeon, we too can hold the promise of salvation in our hearts. Through faith in Christ, we are brought into a personal relationship with Him. We are not distant observers but active participants in His salvation plan.

Simeon saw in baby Jesus the light that would shine on all nations, not just for the Jews but for the Gentiles as well. This is reflective of God’s love - inclusive, accepting, and inviting all to partake in the blessings of salvation through His Son.

As Christians, we are called to emulate this message of inclusivity. We are tasked to bring this light to those who may be dwelling in darkness, showing them the way to Christ, the true Light of the world.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of salvation that comes through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Please cultivate in us a heart that embraces this gift completely, so that we might share the light of Your love with everyone we meet. Help us to be carriers of Your inclusive love, willing and prepared to spread the good news of salvation to both Jew and Gentile, both friend and stranger. Guide us, Lord, to live every day in the embrace of Your salvation, until that joyful day when we, like Simeon, behold Your glory face-to-face. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
