Fulfilling the Great Promise
Dec 23, 2025
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
Luke 2:11-14 (NIV)
As we've read in today's scripture, an angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds with a blessed message — a Savior had been born. This isn't just any savior; it's "Christ the Lord". The one who was promised, the one the world was awaiting.
The birth of Jesus Christ wasn't merely an event; it was the fulfillment of a promise made by God. In that humble manger, the world saw hope incarnate. The arrival of the promised One brought along blessings of peace and goodwill towards all mankind.
The shepherds' night shift was transformed into a divine appointment. The angels' song might have been the first Christmas carol, but its depth, joy, and promise echo till this day. It comes as a gentle reminder for us to embrace God's love and to share the light of Christ with everyone we meet.
Even in our everyday lives, amidst our routines, let's remember the wonderful privilege we have to know and share this good news. After all, we are the bearers of the divine promise, entrusted with the greatest story ever told.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Help us to fully grasp what His birth means for us. May we be vehicles of Your love and grace, sharing the joyous news of Christ's coming with others. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
