'the Reminder of God's Faithfulness'
Dec 18, 2025
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
Luke 1:68-70 (NIV)
In today's verse, we remember the fulfillment of God's promise through the birth of John the Baptist. It serves as a sweet reminder that our loving Father in Heaven keeps His promises.
Often, in the shadows of life’s trials, we can lose sight of this wonderful truth. We may find ourselves questioning whether God will indeed fulfill the promises He made to us.
We should then look back at God’s history of faithfulness, as evidenced in the scripture reading today. Just as Zechariah proclaimed that God had come to redeem His people, we too can take heart in the knowledge that God is actively working in our lives for our good. His promises are not empty words, but are assurances that are as certain as the morning sun.
Just as God's promise of a saviour came to pass in Jesus Christ, we can trust that God is faithful to fulfill His promises to us. The reality of fulfilled prophecy strengthens our faith and reassures us that God’s promises are steadfast and true.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being a faithful God. Thank You for the fulfillment of Your promises that we see throughout scripture. Help us to anchor our faith in Your faithfulness. When doubt creeps in, remind us of Your past provisions and of Your unchanging nature. May we walk in confidence knowing that You are a promise-keeping God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
