The Seeker of His Kingdom
Dec 13, 2025
When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
Matthew 2:4-6 (NIV)
Today's scripture passage brings the wisdom of those who sought after the Messiah, led by stars and dreams. It leaves us with a resounding call to search for Him in our own lives, not just in grand gestures but in everyday moments of love, kindness, and faith.
The Magi, guided by the star, were earnest seekers of the Messiah. In their journey, they faced many obstacles, but their perseverance never faltered. This should be an inspiration for us, a reminder to always yearn for Christ, to keep our eyes on His promise, even during challenging times.
Their search was rewarded when they found Jesus; a profound moment permeated by joy, reverence, and worship. They recognized that the humble child before them was indeed the King whose arrival was foretold in the scriptures. This passage imparts a crucial message to us: when we seek Christ earnestly, we will find Him. And finding Him changes everything.
Let us strive to be like the Magi, seekers of His Kingdom, driven by faith and perseverance. In our pursuit of Christ, let us remember to seek Him not just in the extraordinary but also in the ordinary.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord Jesus, fill us with the same determination and fervor that the Magi had in their pursuit of You. Help us to recognize Your powerful presence in every instance of our lives. May we always yearn for You and Your kingdom, seeking You in all aspects of our lives. We invite You into our hearts today and every day. In Your precious name, we pray. Amen.
