Immersed in the Word
Nov 27, 2025
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
Our reading today encourages us to let the word of Christ inhabit us richly—what a profound calling! It evokes an image of being deeply entrenched in God’s teachings; almost as if we’re soaked from head to toe with His message, so much so that it affects our speech, guides our thoughts, and directs our actions.
The scripture reading compels us to teach and admonish one another with wisdom. There's immense value in having a community that is rooted in God’s word because it allows us to learn from one another, correct each other in love, and grow collectively in understanding. There is an intricate link between being immersed in the word and impacting our communities with wisdom. When we are rooted in God's word, our insights, advice, and overall influence become more potent because they originate from divine wisdom.
Today's verse also speaks of the relationship between the word of God and worship. We are called to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. Corporate worship not only draws us closer to Him, but it also fosters unity among believers. When the word of Christ dwells among us, our worship becomes authentic expressions of gratitude for who God is and what He has done in our lives.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to immerse myself in Your word daily. May I draw wisdom from Your teachings, influence my community positively, and express genuine worship. Use me to teach others with a loving spirit, to truly listen when I am taught, and inspire in me songs of thanksgiving. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
