Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)

In our reading today, we are reminded of the Kingdom which cannot be shaken, a gift bestowed upon us by God through His unwavering grace. This gift is one that should not be received lightly, but with gratitude and reverence.

Often, in the chaos and noise of the world, we may tend to forget how precious this gift is. We get distracted, caught up in earthly affairs, forgetting the eternal inheritance promised and given to us. Our scripture reading today calls us back, calls us to remember and to act in reverence and awe because of this grace.

Reverence stands at the heart of Christian discipleship. It is expressing deep respect and honor to God, understanding His holiness and sovereignty over us. This reverence propels us to live lives worthy of His calling, lives that reflect His love and righteousness.

Our awe, or fear of God, does not represent terror, but rather a profound sense of His majesty and power. It is the response to the realization of God's ultimate authority over all things. This fear, in turn, leads to wisdom and understanding, as insinuated in Proverbs 9:10.

Therefore, dear reader, let us continually offer our lives as living sacrifices to God, living in reverent awe and worship, acknowledging His supreme sovereignty and control over all things.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the unshakeable kingdom that you've given us through Your grace. Help us to live lives filled with reverence and awe for You. May our actions, words, and thoughts be an expression of our gratitude and acknowledgment of Your majesty and power. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
