Living a Gratitude-Filled Life
Nov 25, 2025
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 (NIV)
In today's verse, Paul addresses an integral part of abundant Christian living: gratitude. It is this life-nurturing attitude that enables us to view our lives as blessed, no matter the circumstances we face.
God calls us to incorporate thanksgiving into everything we do or say. And yes, this involves every circumstance, not just those occasions that naturally prompt gratitude. It can be challenging to express thanks when we are navigating through difficult times, but it is in these moments especially that we ought to cling closely to the message of today's scripture reading.
The beautiful thing about gratitude is that it shifts our focus from the problems that surround us to the One who holds everything together. When you experience gratitude, you let go of the illusion of control and acknowledge that you are upheld by a mighty and loving God — not by your own strength.
True gratitude is accompanied by an important step: doing everything in the name of Jesus, ultimately honoring Him in all we do. It’s through this posture of grateful submission that we can best reflect the love and grace of God to a world that so desperately needs it.
Today’s Prayer:
Heavenly Father, teach me to be thankful in all circumstances. No matter what I am going through, help me see Your love and grace. Enable me to honor You in everything I do and say with an unwavering spirit of gratitude. Guide me to live each day for Your glory, not my own. In Jesus' name, Amen.
