A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!

Proverbs 15:23 (NIV)

In our scripture reading today, we are reminded of the beauty and power of the spoken word. Words can heal or hurt, build up or tear down, inspire or discourage. They bear immense power, and when used wisely, they can foster positivity, encouragement, and joy.

The world can often be an unkind place, laden with negativity and challenges. As believers, however, we have the unique opportunity to bring light into these dark places through our words. By offering a word of encouragement at the right time, we participate in God's ministry of reconciliation, weaving tapestries of grace with each sentence and syllable.

Today's verse inspires us to embrace this role, to use our voices as instruments of love and understanding, sincerely praising others and uplifting their spirits. We must see the opportunity in each conversation, grasping the power that our words have to transform not only our day but someone else's as well. Let us speak words of life, wisdom, and encouragement, sharing the warmth of God’s love with those whom we encounter.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to understand the power of our words and to use them wisely. Gift us with discernment to know when and what to speak to provide comfort, joy, and reassurance. Show us how to use our words as tools of Your grace, lifting up others and shining Your light into their lives. May our words indeed be timely gifts, echoing Your truth and love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
