Guarding Our Words and Hearts
Oct 16, 2025
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14 (NIV)
We are frequently reminded of the power that lies in the tongue. Today's verse brings this to our attention once more, urging us to determine our speech and the meditation of our hearts to be pleasing unto God. It presents a challenge - to direct both our spoken and unspoken thoughts towards what is pleasing and acceptable to our Creator.
In a world where so much of our communication is careless and even harmful, it is comforting to reflect on the scripture reading today. We are urged to cultivate a discipline of thoughtful speaking and intentional thinking – aligning both with the will of God.
Though this discipline may not come naturally to us, it is through the grace of God that we can strive towards this goal. Through His love, we can reform the sentences that escape our lips and the silent contemplations of our hearts. As we look to Him for strength and guidance, every word we utter and each thought we embrace becomes an act of worship.
Let us take some time today to consider the weight of our words and the direction of our thoughts. Let's commit to making them pleasing to the Lord, our Rock and Redeemer.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for your wisdom to guide my words and my thoughts. May they always reflect Your love, mercy, and grace. Strengthen me, Lord, to use my speech to build up others and my thoughts to worship You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
