Listening Ears, Shining Adornments

[Prologue: Exhortations to Embrace Wisdom][Warning Against the Invitation of Sinful Men] Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Today's teaching reminds us of the importance of heeding the wisdom of those who care for us, specifically our parents or guardians. Their instructions are not meant to be burdensome, rather they serve as precious instruments for guidance and protection. Like a graceful garland, to wear this wisdom is a sign of honor and it illuminates the path we tread, leading us away from perils and pitfalls.
Much like the tangible adornments mentioned, our obedience stands out in dazzling beauty to those around us. It can attract others towards the truth and wisdom found in God’s commandments, thus shining as a lighthouse for those lost in the tumultuous sea of life.
The earnest application of our parents' teachings demonstrates our respect and reverence for them. Remember, honoring our earthly parents is a divine commandment that comes with a promise. Similarly, hearing and internalizing the wisdom of our Heavenly Father through His Word is a clear demonstration of our love and obedience towards Him.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to listen and apply the wisdom You have placed in our lives through our earthly and spiritual guardians. May their teachings be a beautiful ornament adorning our hearts and may their instruction guide us in paths of righteousness. Lord, make us reflectors of Your wisdom and truth so that we might be a beacon for those seeking guidance. In Jesus' name, Amen.
