Stepping into the Light
Sep 29, 2025
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John 3:20-21 (NIV)
Today's scripture reading provides a profound insight into our spiritual journey. It talks about those who love darkness and those who are drawn towards light. While darkness conceals, light reveals--a principle that applies to our spiritual lives as well. Many live in the shadows, mired in sinful ways, reluctant to endure scrutiny because they fear what this might reveal.
Yet, the verse assures us of the hope that exists for all of us. God’s light is waiting to illuminate our paths; we only need to step into it. By doing good deeds rooted in God, we demonstrate our willingness to live in the light. As believers, our actions should reflect our choice to move away from darkness. We must choose transparency over concealment, truth over deceit, and humility over pride.
We are not perfect, but the assurance lies in the fact that even though light reveals, it also guides and nurtures growth. Stepping into the light means engaging in actions fueled by faith and love, driving us closer to God's grace and further from mere religious formalities.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unending love and grace. Grant us the courage to step out of our comfort zones, away from the darkness, and into Your marvelous light. Help us to live lives that are pleasing to You, engaging in deeds that reflect our faith and love. May we always seek the truth, embrace transparency, and grow spiritually in your illumination. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
