The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)

Today's passage reminds us that the person without the Spirit struggles to accept or understand spiritual truths. Indeed, they may even see them as foolish. This is a profound reflection on our human nature and our inherent need for divine guidance.

Without the Holy Spirit, our minds are limited by our human capacity. We can only comprehend ideas, thoughts, and concepts through our tangible experiences and knowledge. However, spiritual truths transcend human understanding because they originate in the infinite mind of God.

Recognizing this reality should drive us toward humility and reliance on God's Spirit. Instead of becoming disheartened when we struggle with comprehending spiritual matters, we should use those moments as opportunities to lean into God's wisdom, seeking his guidance and understanding. It is the Holy Spirit who breathes life into the Word, making it alive and active in our hearts. So let us open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, diligently seek His guidance, and thirst for His wisdom.

Today's Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for gifting us your Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. We confess our limitations and human biases, acknowledging that without You, we are blind. We invite Your Spirit to breathe life into Your word, transforming it from mere information into revelation for our lives. We pray these things in the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
