Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

John 6:29 (NIV)

In today's verse, we are reminded of the crucial conversation between Jesus and His followers. This scripture reading highlights the fundamental truth that our true work is to believe in the one sent by God, our Lord Jesus Christ.

We often find ourselves buried under a pile of tasks, chores, responsibilities, and commitments, thinking that fulfilling these will validate our faith. We stay busy with church activities, Bible study groups, charity works, hoping that through these acts we would earn God's favor.

While these actions are commendable, the scripture reminds us that our most significant task is to believe in Jesus Christ sincerely. This profound belief is not merely an intellectual acceptance but a total surrender of our lives to His lordship. It's about entrusting our past, present, future, dreams, fears, and desires to Him, secure in the knowledge that He has the best plans for us.

Let us never forget that our faith in Jesus Christ stands at the center of our Christian walk and it is this belief that drives us to live life as He taught us - full of love, mercy, and humility.

Today’s Prayer:

Father in Heaven, we thank You for reminding us of the true work that You ask of us: to believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ. May our faith in Him not only effect a transformation in our personal lives but also inspire others to accept Him into their hearts. Help us to remember always that it is not by our deeds, but by our faith in Christ that we are reconciled with You. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.
