Sharing Prayer Requests Without Gossiping
Nov 1, 2025
When it comes to privacy, there is a fine line when sharing information about a prayer request. One of the things Uplift takes very seriously is the privacy of others. Sad to say that prayer has been used to spread gossip—and that’s something none of us should tolerate.
What’s the best practice when it comes to sharing information on the app? If you are posting about someone else, ask yourself this important question: “Would I take offense if someone shared the information I’m thinking of sharing about someone else?” The Do-Unto-Others principle really comes in handy here.
Even if you are personally comfortable sharing, you can never go wrong with asking the person first if it’s OK. Don’t guess about what can and should be made public. In fact, contacting the person privately might offer more healing in the moment than posting a public prayer request.
And don’t forget—specifics aren’t always necessary. If someone is dealing with infidelity, it may be wiser to ask for prayer over a marriage going through difficulty. Airing someone’s personal struggles isn’t what prayer is about.
At Uplift, we believe in protecting dignity while still inviting powerful prayer. A little care goes a long way in keeping our community safe, respectful, and uplifting.
