Walking in Humility and Gentleness
Jan 30, 2025
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
In today's reading, we are reminded of the significant virtues of humility and gentleness. These virtues aren't just personal attributes; they are critical elements in our Christian walk and our relationships with others. They help us maintain unity and peace within the body of Christ.
Too often, especially in our current culture, pride and aggression are seen as necessary for success. Yet, as followers of Christ, we're called to a different standard—one that favors humility and gentleness over self-promotion and assertiveness. Living out these virtues can be challenging, but it's important to remember that they aren't signs of weakness, but rather strength under control.
As we navigate our day-to-day lives, let's aim to exemplify these characteristics. Whether we're dealing with a difficult coworker, an unruly child, or a stressful situation, let us act with humility and gentleness—reflecting the love of Christ and the strength of His Spirit within us.
