For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 6:12-13 (NIV)

In our reading today, we are reminded that we're engaged in a spiritual battle. This is not a physical fight against worldly entities, but a battle waged in the spiritual realm, against forces unseen to our physical eyes. It doesn't take place on earthly battlefields, but within our hearts and minds. The foes we face are not of flesh and blood, but principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places.

When faced with such adversaries, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Yet, the scripture reading encourages us not to cower in fear but to prepare ourselves for this spiritual struggle. Equipped with God's full armor, we can stand firm against these unseen enemies and resist in the day of evil.

The trials we face daily are not just random hardships or coincidences; they are battles in this greater war. Recognizing this can transform how we respond to these challenges. Rather than feeling defeated by our struggles, we become spiritually emboldened, knowing that, with God's help, we possess the strength to stand firm and resist the enemy.
