Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NIV)

Today's verse provides a divine calling to believers - to live holy lives because the God we serve is holy. The concept of holiness may seem abstract, ancient, or too lofty for us flawed humans. Yet, our Creator has extended this mandate to each one of us.

What does it mean to be holy? The term 'holy' represents being set apart, not conforming to worldly standards, but aligning ourselves with God's righteousness. It doesn't imply perfection, but rather a progress, an ongoing journey of becoming more like Christ in our thoughts, words, and actions.

When we think of emulating the holiness of God, it might seem an impossible task. However, remember that God, in His grace, does not expect us to achieve this without His help. He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us in this journey of sanctification. As we grow in our relationship with God, we become more attuned to His ways and His nature, thus, reflecting His holiness.
