Praying Through Anxiety

When anxiety creeps in, prayer can feel difficult — but it’s also one of the most powerful responses we can offer. Start by being honest. Tell God exactly what’s making you anxious. You don’t need perfect words — just real ones. Then pause. Take deep breaths and remember that God is with you. Try using Scriptures like Philippians 4:6-7 or Psalm 94:19. Repeat them slowly and turn them into personal prayers. You can also pray breath prayers, like “God, calm my heart” as you breathe in and out. Invite God into your anxious thoughts rather than trying to escape them. Over time, prayer can become your first response, not your last resort. And in the process, God offers peace that’s deeper than understanding.
