Couples Prayer in Ten Minutes
Mar 6, 2026
You don’t need an hour to pray together—ten focused minutes can strengthen unity and tenderness. Pick a weekly time you can keep—Sunday evening, a weeknight after dishes, or a morning coffee date. Sit together, phones away, and follow a simple five-step pattern: (1) Pause—one minute of quiet breathing; (2) Gratitude—each thanks God for one gift from the week; (3) Scripture—read a short passage (Psalm, Proverb, or Gospel verse); (4) Pray—each offers two sentence prayers: one for your spouse, one for a shared concern; (5) Bless—speak a short blessing over each other. Keep prayers specific and kind: “Lord, give her energy for work tomorrow,” “Guide his decision about the project,” “Teach us patience with the kids.” If a conflict exists, acknowledge it and pray gently: “Help us listen well and forgive quickly.” Let prayer be a safe space, not a debate. Consider keeping a tiny “couples prayer log”—just dates and two bullet points. Glancing back will remind you of God’s faithfulness and your growth together. When time allows, add a monthly longer prayer walk or worship night. Ten minutes won’t solve everything, but it will consistently braid your hearts in God’s presence.
