Prayer and Repentance
Jan 9, 2026
Repentance is a vital part of prayer, though it’s often overlooked. True repentance is more than feeling sorry — it’s a turning away from sin and turning toward God.
Psalm 51 offers a powerful example in David’s prayer after his sin with Bathsheba. He cries out, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Confession opens the way for restoration, intimacy, and renewed purpose.
For individuals, repentance clears the path for deeper fellowship with God. For ministry leaders, it’s a foundational truth to teach, showing that God’s grace restores.
When we include repentance in prayer, we acknowledge God’s holiness and our dependence on His mercy.
