Praying in Jesus’ Name
Dec 28, 2025
“In Jesus’ name, Amen.” We often close prayers with these words, but do we truly grasp their meaning?
To pray in Jesus’ name is to pray with His authority, in alignment with His character, and under the covering of His relationship with the Father. It’s not a tagline—it’s a declaration of faith and position.
Jesus told His disciples in John 14:13, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” This promise isn’t a blank check; it’s a call to pray in harmony with God’s will and purpose.
Praying in Jesus’ name means surrendering our own agenda and seeking what He seeks. It brings us under His lordship and acknowledges that only through Him can we access the Father.
This insight is vital for both personal prayer and ministry teaching. It’s not about using the right words—it’s about praying from the right heart.
As A.W. Tozer said, “Prayer at its best is the expression of the total life.” When we live and pray in Jesus’ name, we don’t just ask—we align. That’s where true power lies.
