Prayer as Worship
Dec 18, 2025
Sometimes, we approach prayer like a shopping list. But Scripture invites us to something much deeper: worship. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He began with “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” Before requests, He called for reverence.
Worship-oriented prayer realigns our hearts. It shifts our focus from what we want to who God is. It invites awe, gratitude, and surrender. In the Psalms, David often began with worship—even when surrounded by enemies or hardship.
This shift isn’t just for personal practice; it’s essential for ministry too. Teaching others to begin with adoration teaches perspective. It reminds us that prayer is about God’s glory before it’s about our needs.
Try starting your next prayer with worship. Don’t rush to the list—rest in His presence first. You may find your needs haven’t changed, but your heart certainly has.
