But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18 (NIV)

Our reading today touches the humble reminder that credit for our accomplishments belongs entirely to the Lord. In a world often consumed by the pursuit of recognition, this verse allows us to pause and reflect on where true commendation comes from. We are guided to focus not on our deeds but on His grace and abounding love which enables us to achieve all things.

When we boast, it should only be in the Lord. It's easy to slip into the trap of seeking human approval for our actions, but today's verse reminds us that the ultimate Judge of our actions is God alone. The praise, the accolades, and the applause of humanity fall short in comparison to His divine acknowledgement. Recognizing that our achievements stem from His strength and wisdom can create a foundation of gratitude and humility in our lives.

Our success is not measured by worldly standards. As Christians, we know that our true worth lies in God’s call on our lives and how we choose to obey it. Man's approval is momentary and fleeting, but God's approval is eternal and unchanging. Let us embark on each day with this consciousness, boasting only in the Lord's work within us, acknowledging His sovereign hand in everything we do.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, guide us to seek your approval above all else. Help us to walk in humility, acknowledging your hand in all our achievements. May we always remember to give You the glory and boast only in what You have done in us and through us. Help us to focus our hearts on Your eternal commendation rather than the fleeting recognition of this world. We ask these in the precious name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
